A Rare Protest in China
You won't see or hear anything about this in China, and I feel for the poor man...but he is a hero.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-63339816
"On a cloudy afternoon last week, a man mounted a busy overpass in Beijing's Haidian university district, carrying a cardboard box and car tyres.
Wearing an orange worksuit and a yellow hard hat, he easily passed off as a construction worker.
But then, he unfurled two massive white banners covered in slogans written in red paint. He set the tyres on fire. As plumes of black smoke swirled around him, he picked up a loudhailer and repeatedly chanted:
"Go on strike at school and work, remove dictator and national traitor Xi Jinping! We want to eat, we want freedom, we want to vote!"
In an instant, the man pulled off one of the most significant acts of Chinese protest seen under Mr Xi's rule, marring the triumphant start of the Chinese leader's expected third term in power."
China Just Doesn't Give a Shit
The Headline: China anger over death of girl, 14, sent to Covid quarantine
The link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-63324655
A summary: "Guo Jingjing, 14, developed a fever two days after being taken to the centre in Ruzhou, Henan province last Friday.
Videos of her shaking and convulsing on a bed sparked an outcry online in China which retains strict pandemic controls.
Her family had shared the clips, appealing for help and accountability.
Officials contacted by the BBC have yet to comment on the allegations or the cause of Guo Jingjing's death, which remains unclear.
In his video, her father Guo Lele said workers at the centre had failed to provide any treatment to Jingjing as her condition worsened."
Of course, everything about this is being aggressively censored.

The Worst landlord? Your Government
"The report from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) found that DCHA had let many of the units become damaged by persistent water leaks and mold, had failed to adequately monitor lead risks to child residents, and failed to control crime at authority properties.
Photos included in the report show images of units made totally uninhabitable by black mold, crumbling walls, and missing floor tiles."
If your government wasn't the government they would be held criminally liable for what they do. How can they enc=force rules against landlords that they can't follow themselves?

Your Government Cheats And Cheats
This is not a discussion of the underlying policy, but rather the unethical and downright mean methods your government uses to implement a policy without any legal authority to do so AND to shield itself from good faith litigation to prevent it.
Moving the goalposts experts they all are.
"How do you challenge a rule that doesn't exist, and that constantly changes with every new blog post? The Biden Administration keeps moving the goal posts to block legal challenges."
